YouTube Premium Lite is returning.

YouTube’s €6.99 per month Premium Lite subscription plan, launched in 2021, prioritized ad-free viewing but lacked features like YouTube Music and background playback. The plan was retired in 2023, but Bloomberg reports it is set to return in the U.S., Australia, Germany, and Thailand. The new Premium Lite will offer ad-free access to all video content, excluding music videos. Specific pricing and a launch date for the revamped plan have yet to be announced.

In 2021, YouTube introduced the €6.99 per month Premium Lite subscription in various European markets. This tier provided ad-free viewing but excluded features like YouTube Music, background playback on mobile devices, and offline downloads that are part of the standard Premium subscription. The plan was eventually discontinued in 2023, but a recent report from Bloomberg suggests that Premium Lite will soon be reintroduced.

Per the report, YouTube Premium Lite is set to launch in the U.S., Australia, Germany, and Thailand, offering ad-free access to select content. Bloomberg notes that users will be able to view all YouTube videos without ads, with the exception of music videos. Specific details about the launch date and pricing for the new Premium Lite plan have not yet been disclosed.
