Xiaomi plans to release at least two dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variants of its YU7 SUV mid-year. Xiaomi is set to release at least two dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variants of its YU7 SUV around the middle of the year. One of these models has already received certification from Chinese authorities, featuring a front motor that generates 220kW (295 hp) and a rear motor producing 288kW (386 hp).

Recently, a new registration with the Chinese regulatory body has surfaced, indicating another dual-motor AWD variant with lower power outputs: 130kW (174 hp) at the front and 235kW (315 hp) at the rear.

The electric motors for this vehicle are provided by Inovance Automotive and United Automotive Electronic Systems. The LFP battery is supplied by FinDreams, a division of BYD. This new version weighs 5,346 lb and boasts a maximum speed of 149 mph.

New dual-motor AWD Xiaomi YU7 SUV gets certified

In addition to the two AWD options, a single rear-wheel drive (RWD) model will also be available, which features a rear-mounted motor that produces 235kW (315 hp). This motor appears to be identical to the one used in the rear of the newly listed AWD model.

The YU7 will mark Xiaomi’s second electric vehicle, following the highly popular SU7 that was launched last year, of which the company has successfully delivered over 150,000 units. Xiaomi aims to deliver an ambitious 300,000 vehicles this year, and the YU7, with its highly sought-after SUV design, is sure to contribute significantly to this goal.
