Xiaomi is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the YU7, a new five-seat mid-to-large SUV, following the successful SU7 sedan. Unveiled on May 22, the YU7 will debut at the 2025 Auto Shenzhen from May 31 to June 8. It measures 196.8 inches in length and will come in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max, featuring batteries that offer ranges up to 519 miles. Xiaomi’s swift entry into the EV market has positioned it as a competitive player, and the YU7 launch is crucial for tapping into the growing demand for practical electric SUVs. Pricing details will follow in July.
Xiaomi continues to make waves in the automotive industry following the success of its SU7 electric sedan. The company is now setting its sights on the electric SUV market with the introduction of its latest model, the YU7. After its reveal last week, the SUV is slated to make a public appearance at the 2025 Auto Shenzhen, commencing on May 31.
The YU7 is designed as a five-seat, mid-to-large-size electric SUV, making its debut on May 22. For those interested in seeing it in person, Xiaomi will showcase the YU7 alongside its complete vehicle lineup at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, also referred to as Auto Shenzhen 2025. The press will have access starting May 31, with general admission available from June 1 to June 8. Visitors can find Xiaomi at Hall 6, Booth 06.
What sets this electric SUV apart? Xiaomi isn’t just adding to an already crowded market; it’s making a strategic move. The YU7 boasts impressive dimensions of 196.8 inches in length, 78.6 inches in width, and 63 inches in height, built on a substantial 118 inches wheelbase.
The company plans to provide three versions: the YU7 Standard, YU7 Pro, and YU7 Max, similar to its approach with the SU7 sedan. Both the Standard and Pro models will feature a 96.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, with Xiaomi claiming a CLTC range of 519 miles for the Standard and 478 miles for the Pro.
The premium YU7 Max will incorporate a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery, targeting a CLTC range of 472 miles. For comparison, the Tesla Model Y offers two choices in China with CLTC ranges of 593 kilometers and 719 kilometers, positioning the YU7 as a competitive player in terms of range.
Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market has been both rapid and impactful. The first EV, the SU7 sedan, launched on March 28, 2024, quickly gaining recognition in China’s competitive landscape. On February 27, 2025, the company introduced the SU7 Ultra, a high-performance variant with an impressive 1,548 hp. This swift advancement positioned Xiaomi at No. 8 in global battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales for the first quarter of 2025, according to TrendForce.
The upcoming showcase of the YU7 electric SUV at the Shenzhen auto show represents a critical milestone for Xiaomi. Successfully launching an SUV is vital for achieving volume sales in today’s market, where both families and individuals are leaning towards the practicality and space offered by larger electric vehicles. The spotlight will now be on the sales launch scheduled for July and the eventual announcement of its pricing, which will be pivotal in gauging consumer interest in the YU7.
