Women’s World Cup qualifying matches set to take place in Lahore from April 9 to April 19.

The qualifying competition for the women’s ODI World Cup will begin in Lahore on April 9, featuring matches between Pakistan and Ireland, and Scotland and West Indies. The tournament also includes Bangladesh and Thailand, vying for the last two World Cup spots alongside already qualified teams like India and Australia. Warm-up matches are scheduled for April 5 and 7 at the Gaddafi Stadium and Lahore City Cricket Association grounds. This marks Pakistan’s second ICC tournament, with matches exclusively in Lahore. India will host the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025, the first since 2011, featuring eight teams and 31 matches.

The qualifying competition for the women’s ODI World Cup will commence in Lahore on April 9, featuring matches between Pakistan and Ireland, as well as Scotland and West Indies. The World Cup is scheduled for October this year in India. The other competitors in this six-team event, Bangladesh and Thailand, will go head-to-head on the following day.

In addition to India, teams from Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka have already secured their spots for the World Cup, with the final two positions to be filled by the top-two teams from the qualifying tournament. Matches will be held at the revamped Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association grounds. These two locations, along with the Aitchison College grounds, will also accommodate warm-up matches on April 5 and April 7, following the arrival of teams in Lahore on April 3. The concluding games are set for April 19.

The official schedule was unveiled today, March 14, just over three weeks before the tournament begins, although the boards of West Indies, Ireland, and Bangladesh had previously shared the dates and venues unofficially when announcing their seasonal fixtures and, in Bangladesh’s case, their squad for the event.

This marks the second ICC tournament hosted in Pakistan, following the Champions Trophy, with all matches being played within the country. Lahore is the sole city selected for the event, as no PSL matches will take place there until April 24. The PSL tournament will kick off in Rawalpindi on April 11.
As previously reported by ESPNcricinfo, due to an arrangement made by the BCCI and the PCB before the Champions Trophy earlier this year, if Pakistan qualifies for the main event, they will not travel to India for their matches. Instead, those matches will occur at a neutral venue.
India is set to host the women’s ODI World Cup for the fifth time in 2025, the first occurrence since 2011. This will also be the first global women’s tournament in India since the 2016 T20 World Cup, which ran alongside the men’s event. The 2025 tournament is planned to be similar to the 2022 edition, featuring eight teams and a total of 31 matches.
