On Friday in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her accomplices reportedly set a cat on fire after it crossed in front of their vehicle.
A police report has been filed against them.
A video circulating on social media depicts the accused allegedly assaulting and subsequently igniting the cat.
The incident was triggered when the cat crossed their motorcycle’s path.
The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau received an email containing the video, prompting immediate action.
The individuals responsible are facing charges under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
As detailed in the initial information report (FIR), the accused were also observed recording the incident. Authorities have managed to track down their motorcycle and further investigations are underway.
