Weekly survey: What’s your opinion on the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra?

The Poco F series is known for providing flagship performance at affordable prices, but recent price increases have impacted the brand. The new Poco F7 series includes only Pro and Ultra models, with the cheapest starting at $500/€600. The F7 Ultra features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a telephoto camera, wireless charging, and IP68 water resistance, positioning it competitively against high-end peers like the OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25+. The F7 Pro offers a more affordable option with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but lacks some camera features and has slower charging. Early bird discounts are available until April 10.

The Poco F series has developed a strong reputation for delivering flagship-like performance at an affordable price. However, rising costs have impacted the brand, which is now shifting towards a more premium market segment. Consequently, we did not see a standard F7 model released today—only a Pro and an Ultra option.

Below is a price comparison of the Poco F6 generation against the new models. Currently, the lowest price for entering the F7 series is set at $500/€600. It’s worth noting that the global pricing for the Pro model is identical; however, consumers in Europe will face an additional €100 cost increase.

256GB 512GB
Poco F6 $380 £400 €450 $430 £450 €500
Poco F6 Pro $500 €500 $550 €550
Poco F7 Pro $500 €500 €600 $550 £550 €650
Poco F7 Ultra $650 £650 €750 $700 £700 €800

Xiaomi Poco F7 Ultra

Let’s begin with the Poco F7 Ultra, marking the brand’s inaugural Ultra phone and its first move into the premium flagship arena. The Poco F4 GT (2022) was the last to launch with the contemporary Snapdragon chip. Subsequently, the F-series utilized older chips but at a more affordable cost. The F7 Ultra represents a return to excellence, integrating the leading Android chipset available today, the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Furthermore, Poco has incorporated a telephoto camera—a 50MP 2.5x model equipped with a floating lens that also enables tele-macro shots—and an ultra-wide camera that is significantly more robust than a mere afterthought (32MP).

Additional features include wireless charging (50W) alongside the impressive 120W wired charging, as well as genuine IP68 water resistance. Although this phone may carry a heftier price tag for a Poco device, it remains competitively priced compared to its Snapdragon 8 Elite counterparts.

For a point of comparison, the OnePlus 13 begins at $900/€1,000 for a 256GB model. The Galaxy S25+ starts at $1,000/€1,150, while the Realme GT 7 Pro typically retails at around €800.

Some may argue that the Poco F7 Ultra should be compared against higher-end models like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and others. However, those options tend to be much more expensive and the Poco F7 Ultra doesn’t possess the camera prowess to compete effectively with them.

The Poco F7 Pro serves as a more budget-friendly alternative, with a price reduction of $150/€150 compared to its Ultra counterpart. While this option is more economical, it also sacrifices some performance, being powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Most of the advanced camera features have been eliminated; the Pro model is limited to an 8MP ultra-wide camera alongside the 50MP main sensor. It does have a larger battery—6,000mAh compared to 5,300mAh—but only supports 90W wired charging and lacks wireless charging.

A similar approach is taken by the OnePlus 13R, which also uses the 8 Gen 3 chipset to cut costs. A 256GB variant is priced at $600/€750, positioning it closer to Ultra prices than the Pro. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is available for $710/€660 for a 256GB model without a Snapdragon chipset. Additionally, the Honor 200 Pro features the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and costs €800 for a 512GB version. These prices reflect the standard retail pricing, but discounts are commonly available, and it’s important to note that the Pocos are offered at early bird rates until April 10.
