Android 16 achieved Platform Stability with its beta 3 release in mid-March, with one more beta expected this month before stable rollout, likely for Pixels by June end. Other manufacturers like Xiaomi and OnePlus are also quickly releasing betas for their devices. Samsung faces challenges with One UI 7/Android 15, as updates for older models like the Galaxy S24 have been paused. While a major release is anticipated in Q2, new features and optimizations are planned for Q4. Users are left questioning the importance of having the latest version versus just receiving security updates.
Android 16 has achieved the Platform Stability milestone with the launch of beta 3 in mid-March. Another beta version is anticipated later this month to address any lingering issues, and we can expect a stable release shortly, with Pixel devices likely receiving it by the end of June.
Android 16 release roadmap
Google devices are not the only ones set to receive Android 16 soon; Xiaomi has already rolled out a Developer Preview last week for the Xiaomi 15 and 14T Pro, while OnePlus has multiple beta versions available for the OnePlus 13.
Recently, there have been leaks regarding Samsung’s developments on One UI 8/Android 16, but it’s worth noting that One UI 7/Android 15 has caused significant challenges for the company. The Galaxy S25 series and A-series models such as the Galaxy A56 come with it pre-installed. However, the update for the previous year’s Galaxy S24 faced issues and had to be halted. Models from the older S-series have yet to receive any updates for Android 15.
After the major release in Q2, new features and optimizations are planned for Q4
