Vivo is set to launch its X200 Ultra flagship smartphone on April 21 in China, accompanied by an innovative photography kit. A notable accessory is an add-on zoom lens, co-engineered with Zeiss, designed to enhance the phone’s 200MP periscope zoom lens. This lens features a 13-piece glass setup, offering a f/2.3 aperture and 200mm equivalent focal length, enabling 8.7x optical zoom and 70x hybrid zoom. Users can achieve “highly usable” shots at 800mm (35x) and up to 1600mm (70x). Sample images demonstrate impressive detail, but pricing and availability for the add-on lens remain undisclosed.
Just yesterday, vivo revealed a photography kit for its upcoming X200 Ultra flagship, set to launch on April 21 in China. This isn’t the only camera accessory for the X200 Ultra; vivo’s product manager Han Boxiao disclosed information about an additional add-on zoom lens developed in collaboration with Zeiss.
This lens connects to the X200 Ultra’s photography kit using a custom adapter and is positioned over the phone’s 200MP periscope zoom lens. It showcases a complex 13-piece glass lens design, enhancing the 200MP sensor’s standard 3.7x optical zoom.
The add-on zoom lens boasts a f/2.3 aperture with a 200mm equivalent focal length, offering 8.7x optical zoom and up to 70x hybrid zoom. Reports indicate that images taken at up to 800mm focal length (35x zoom) are “highly usable,” while they can stretch to 1600mm range (70x zoom).
