The vivo X200 Ultra has been launched in China, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, up to 16 GB RAM, and impressive storage options. The highlight is its superior camera system with three lenses, including a 50 MP main and a 200 MP telephoto camera, supported by two dedicated ISPs. A unique V key acts as a shutter trigger. It also includes an optional zoom lens and a 6,000 mAh battery. Additionally, vivo introduced the X200s, with a smaller design, great camera specs, and a 6,200 mAh battery. Both phones run on OriginOS and Android 15, likely remaining exclusive to China.
Today marks the official unveiling of the vivo X200 Ultra following an extensive event in China. This phone is designed to excel as a camera device, sporting dual ISPs and the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Alongside it, the vivo X200s has also been introduced – a premium offering with a sleek, compact form and an impressive battery.
vivo X200 Ultra
The Ultra is the quintessential flagship of the X200 lineup. It integrates a Qualcomm chipset with 12 GB or 16 GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, complemented by UFS 4.1 storage available in three configurations – 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.
Featured on the device is a 10-bit 6.82” LTPO AMOLED display boasting QHD+ resolution, a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
The X200 Ultra’s standout feature is its exceptional camera system. On the right side, there’s a V key positioned ideally for your index finger, reminiscent of those on digital cameras. This customizable button is primarily intended to serve as a shutter trigger.
Internally, vivo has incorporated not just one but two dedicated camera processors. The first is the vivo V3+, a traditional ISP for post-processing, while the second is the new vivo VS1, aiming to improve exposure, focus, and manage image stacking. The VS1 forwards data to the V3+ for more demanding tasks like noise reduction and sharpening.
The rear camera setup includes three sensors: a 50 MP primary camera featuring a Sony LYT-818 sensor with a size of 1/1.28” and an f/1.7 aperture; a 200 MP telephoto camera utilizing a Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor measuring 1/1.4” with an 85 mm equivalent focal length; and another 50 MP Sony LYT-818 sensor dedicated to ultra-wide photography.
All rear cameras are capable of 4K video recording at 120 fps for slow-motion capture, and 4K video at 60 fps supports Dolby Vision for enhanced color accuracy. The front-facing camera is also a 50 MP unit.
In the competitive smartphone market, even impressive specifications can feel commonplace. To stand out, vivo offers an optional add-on zoom lens that functions as a teleconverter, providing an additional 2.35x zoom on top of the telephoto camera’s existing capabilities. This enhancement produces images with an equivalent focal length of 200 mm. It’s packaged within a special Photography Set, which includes multiple lenses, straps, a case that connects to a USB-C grip, and a separate 2,300 mAh battery.
Beyond its camera prowess, the vivo X200 Ultra is an outstanding smartphone running the latest OriginOS and Android 15. It houses a robust 6,000 mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 40W wireless charging.
vivo X200 Ultra
Available in Black or Red, it also features a White variant designed to resemble Rimowa luggage. The starting price is CNY 6,499 ($900/€775) for the 12/256 GB model. A more advanced 16 GB + 1 TB version with satellite communication capabilities is priced at CNY 7,999 ($1,100/€950).
This variant is the only one that includes the Photography Set; the complete package’s cost is set at CNY 9,699 ($1,350/€1,150). We do not anticipate the vivo X200 Ultra to be released outside of China.
vivo X200s
Although the X200s belongs to the flagship series, vivo describes it as the evolution of last year’s vivo X100s smartphone (notably, there is no X200s Pro version). This model is more compact, featuring a 6.67” AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260p and up to 120 Hz refresh rate.
Inside, it runs on a Mediatek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, combined with 12/16 GB of RAM and storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB across five different configurations.
While the X200s is smaller than the standard X200, it still accommodates a powerful camera system. The rear features a trio of cameras: a 50 MP f/1.6 main shooter, a 50 MP f/2.6 telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide. It also houses a 32 MP selfie camera behind a punch-hole display.
The standout characteristic of the vivo X200s is its battery, which boasts a capacity of 6,200 mAh – the highest in the X series to date. It supports 90W fast wired charging and 40W wireless charging when used with the appropriate charger or stand.
With its launch in China, the X200s features OriginOS layered on Android 15, offering an AI spam call filter, a homework assistant, and a localized version of Circle to Search for quick internet lookups of onscreen content.
Among the additional features introduced by vivo are 360-degree NFC functionality, an expansive vapor chamber for enhanced cooling, and improved connectivity owing to an upgraded antenna design and smart switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
vivo X200s
The vivo X200s is currently available for pre-order, with the first sales kicking off on Friday, April 25. It comes in Black, White, Green, and Lavender Purple, starting at CNY 4,199 ($575/€500). Similar to the X200 Ultra, we speculate that this model will also remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
