Vivo X Fold5 specifications revealed; confirm it’s named X Fold5, not X Fold4.

Vivo is set to launch the X Fold5, a successor to its X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro, with some notable changes. This year, only one model will debut, skipping the anticipated X Fold4 due to tetraphobia. The X Fold5 features an 8.03-inch 2K+ AMOLED foldable screen, a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover display, and a 6,000 mAh battery with fast charging. Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, it will include 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 50 MP camera setup. The phone is designed to be thinner, with enhanced specs, though the launch date remains unconfirmed.

vivo introduced the X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro in March of last year, and it appears they are now developing a successor. However, there are two noteworthy aspects. First, reports suggest that this year there will only be one book-style foldable from vivo, not two. Second, the upcoming device will be named X Fold5 instead of the anticipated X Fold4—blame it on tetraphobia.

A recent leak indicates that the X Fold5 will feature an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED display with “2K+” resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, along with a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover screen also supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it will include a robust 6,000 mAh battery that supports 90W wired and 30W wireless charging.

Interestingly, reports state the device will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, similar to the X Fold3 Pro, rather than the Snapdragon 8 Elite for reasons still unclear. This will be complemented by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The X Fold5 is expected to have a 50 MP main camera featuring Sony’s IMX921 sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide camera with autofocus suitable for macro photography, and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom using the Sony IMX882 sensor. For selfies, the device is rumored to include two 32 MP cameras, one for each screen.

The phone is said to incorporate a side-mounted fingerprint scanner within the power button, a three-stage Alert Slider, and an unspecified IP rating. When unfolded, it will measure 4.3 mm in thickness and 9.33 mm when folded.

Overall, the X Fold5 seems to be a slimmer version of the X Fold3 Pro, featuring a modified telephoto camera and a slightly larger battery by 300 mAh. These specifications are believed to pertain to the global model, hinting at its existence (which isn’t always certain with Chinese foldables). However, there may also be a differently specced version available for China. Unfortunately, the rumor does not provide information regarding the launch timeline.
