Virat Kohli set a new record during the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan by becoming the fastest batter to score 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs), achieving the milestone in just 287 innings. This surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of 350 innings. Kohli marked the achievement with a boundary and went on to score his 51st ODI century, finishing with 100 not out. India won the match by six wickets, chasing down Pakistan’s total of 241, ensuring their likely qualification for the semifinals, while Pakistan faces potential elimination after two losses.

Virat Kohli, the star batter of the Indian cricket team, broke Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable record during the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. Kohli became the fastest player in ODI cricket history to reach 14,000 runs, achieving this milestone in just 287 innings. Previously, the record was held by Sachin, who reached the 14,000 run mark in 350 innings. Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka is the only other player to surpass 14,000 ODI runs, accomplishing this in 378 innings.

Kohli is the first batter to hit this milestone in under 300 innings.

Starting his innings needing 15 runs to reach the target, he accomplished the feat stylishly, hitting Haris Rauf for a boundary.

The star player then went on to record his 51st ODI century off 111 balls.

India triumphed over Pakistan by six wickets in a one-sided Champions Trophy match on Sunday, nearly securing a place in the semifinals. India bowled out Pakistan for 241, with Saud Shakeel scoring 62 off 76 balls and captain Mohammad Rizwan managing a painstaking 46 from 77 balls.

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) took three wickets, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya (2/31) dismissed Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel.

India completed the chase in 42.3 overs, thanks to Virat Kohli (100 not out off 111), Shubman Gill (46 off 52), and Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67).

Skipper Rohit Sharma (20 off 15) also hit a few impressive strokes before being dismissed by a brilliant delivery from Shaheen Afridi.

With two victories in as many games, India is almost assured a spot in the semifinals, while Pakistan faces the threat of elimination after losing their first two group matches.
