Earlier, Kohli and Anushka shared a quick celebratory moment on the stairs before they joined the festivities for India’s third Champions Trophy title.
Throughout the tournament, Anushka has been a steadfast supporter of the team. In previous matches, Kohli and Anushka were seen sharing affectionate gestures multiple times.
This marked India’s fourth consecutive appearance in an ICC final in less than two years, with Rohit Sharma’s team claiming their second successive ICC title after their victory in last year’s T20 World Cup in Barbados. This win brought Kohli’s ICC titles to four, alongside captain Rohit Sharma, establishing them as the most successful Indian players in ICC history, following the legendary MS Dhoni.
Rohit Sharma’s solid 76 runs laid the groundwork for India’s chase of 252, while Shreyas Iyer contributed 48 and K.L. Rahul added an unbeaten 34, leading the team past the finishing line with an over to spare. Axar Patel (29) and Hardik Pandya (18) also played key roles to edge the team closer to victory in a gripping match.
After the win, Kohli remarked that India possesses a squad capable of tackling global challenges for the next eight years.
