London:
On Saturday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer warmly welcomed Volodymyr Zelensky at his Downing Street office, just a day after the Ukrainian leader’s encounter with US President Donald Trump.
“You’re incredibly welcome here in Downing Street,” Starmer expressed to Zelensky. “And as you heard from the cheers outside, you have the complete support of the United Kingdom, and we stand with you and Ukraine for as long as necessary.”
Starmer emphasized that both leaders aim for “a sustainable peace for Ukraine, founded on sovereignty and security for Ukraine – which is vital for Europe and equally important for the United Kingdom.”
Zelensky remarked that he had noticed the hundreds of supporters gathered outside Downing Street, stating, “I want to express my gratitude to the people of the United Kingdom for the immense support from the very outset of this war.”
“I’m delighted that His Majesty the King has agreed to meet with me tomorrow, and we are very pleased in Ukraine to have such a strategic ally,” he continued. “We rely on your support.”
