On Monday, US President Donald Trump remarked that a Chinese incursion into Taiwan would be “catastrophic,” following the announcement by the island’s semiconductor giant TSMC about a significant investment in the United States.
“It would undoubtedly be a catastrophic event,” Trump stated during the investment announcement, asserting that it “will at least position us to have a substantial role in this crucial industry, with a significant part of it based in the United States.”
