Craig Melvin is paying tribute to his late brother in a heartfelt manner.
In 2020, the Today show host shared the news of his older brother, Lawrence Meadows, who lost his battle with colon cancer. Craig mentioned that for several years, Lawrence had been advocating for awareness about the disease, and Craig promised that he and his family would carry on that mission in his brother’s memory.
Now, in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Craig, a member of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s board of directors, has unveiled a custom 1/4 zip-up Today sweatshirt and coordinating socks created in partnership with NBC and the foundation.
“Exciting news! 💙,” he wrote. “Last year, I felt inspired to create a TODAY tie and sock set to honor my brother, Lawrence, who passed away from colorectal cancer in 2020. This year, I’ve gone for a sportier style with a ¼ zip and sock set. Together, we can enhance awareness about the crucial role of preventive screenings. Check out the exclusive collection via the link in my story, and find them in-person at The Shop at NBC Studios (@experiencenbcstudios).”
According to NBC’s website, the company plans to make a contribution in support of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
Upon hearing about Craig’s thoughtful initiative, fans quickly expressed their admiration in the comments.
“I admire your commitment to advocating for early detection and honoring your brother’s legacy ❤️,” one comment read. “Thank you for your steadfast leadership in the battle against colorectal cancer, Craig. You’re making a significant impact!!” another follower concurred. “Such an amazing cause! I’m ordering now!” added another fan.
