OnePlus is discontinuing the Alert Slider in favor of a customizable smart button, starting with the OnePlus 13T. President Li Jie announced this change, stating the button will allow users to switch between Silent/Vibration/Ringing modes and access additional features. The OnePlus 13T will reportedly have a compact 6.3” flat display, catering to fans of smaller phones. It will also feature a large battery capacity of at least 6,000mAh, weighing 185g, making it comparable to the OnePlus 13’s battery. The OnePlus 13T is set to be officially unveiled later this month, although a specific date is not yet provided.
In case you haven’t heard, OnePlus is eliminating the Alert Slider. The company argues that a smart button will provide greater customization, something its fans have been requesting. The OnePlus 13T is expected to be the first model to replace the slider with a customizable button.
Li Jie, the President of OnePlus China, posted an image stating that “the OnePlus 13T has been upgraded with a new shortcut key.” This new key will allow users to switch between Silent/Vibration/Ringing modes, similar to the slider, and will also provide quick access to various other features. OnePlus has designed “a very interesting function” for this button, which will be unveiled shortly.
The OnePlus 13T will ditch the Alert Slider in favor of a smart button
During a survey of fans who prefer compact phones, OnePlus discovered a preference for flat screens – thus, the OnePlus 13T will feature a smaller display. While official dimensions are yet to be confirmed, rumors suggest that the 13T will sport a 6.3” screen.
What Li Jie did confirm is that the OnePlus 13T will come with a battery of at least 6,000mAh capacity and will weigh 185g. This battery is comparable to, if not larger than, the 6,000mAh power cell found in the 6.82” OnePlus 13 (which weighs 210g).
The OnePlus 13T is set to be unveiled later this month, although a specific date has yet to be announced.
