India has secured its place in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals after New Zealand’s convincing win over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday. Rachin Ravindra delivered an outstanding century, complemented by a remarkable bowling display from Michael Bracewell, leading New Zealand to a 5-wicket victory against Bangladesh. This result allowed New Zealand to become the second team from Group A to advance to the knockout stages. Consequently, Bangladesh and Pakistan were both eliminated from the tournament, having suffered two defeats each. India will meet New Zealand in their final group stage encounter, while Bangladesh will face Pakistan; however, both matches will only determine which team tops the group heading into the semifinals.
New Zealand triumphed over Bangladesh by five wickets in a Champions Trophy Group A match on Monday, a result that enabled both the Kiwis and India to advance to the Champions Trophy semifinals. New Zealand’s victory also meant that Bangladesh, along with host nation Pakistan, who have both lost their two matches so far, were knocked out of the competition.
India and New Zealand each have four points from two wins in Group A, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semifinals.
Rachin Ravindra (112) delivered a spectacular century as New Zealand successfully chased down the target of 237 runs with 23 balls remaining.
Tom Latham and Devon Conway contributed with scores of 55 and 30 respectively, as New Zealand reached a total of 240 for 5 in 46.1 overs.
Earlier, Michael Bracewell took four wickets as New Zealand limited Bangladesh to a modest score of 236 for 9, despite skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 77-run effort.
Bracewell dismissed Tanzid Hasan (24), Mushfiqur Rahim (2), Mahmudullah (4), and Bangladesh’s last match centurion Towhid Hridoy (7), finishing with impressive figures of 10-0-26-4.
