Testing the Oppo Find N5’s Hinge: Can It Withstand 45kg Without Breaking?

Last month, Oppo launched the Find N5, showcasing its durability through a weight test where a 20kg weight was hung on the phone placed between two tables. In a subsequent test, four Find N5 devices held up a 50kg weight, applying pressure specifically on the hinges. State of Tech, known for testing foldable phones, previously assessed the durability of the Galaxy Z Flip5, which endured 400,000 folds. They returned to test the Oppo Find N5, applying a similar weight load on a single device. The results of whether the hinge could withstand this stress are detailed in a video.

Last month, we saw the launch of the Oppo Find N5, where the company showcased the durability of the device by placing it between two tables and suspending a 20kg/44lbs weight on it. While this initial test didn’t place any weight on the hinge, the subsequent test did. Watch this video where Oppo used four Find N5s to support a 50kg/110lbs weight – and this time, the load was directly applied to the hinges.

Were these tests orchestrated by Oppo? A few years back, the channel State of Tech put the Galaxy Z Flip5 through its paces, achieving an impressive 400,000 folds before it failed (twice what Samsung advertised and sufficient for 100 folds daily over a decade). This same channel has now returned to test Oppo’s foldable phone.

This test is significantly more challenging than what Oppo performed – only a single phone was utilized instead of four. Yet, that lone device had to endure nearly as much weight as the quartet in Oppo’s official test.

Did the hinge break, or did it withstand the pressure? Check out the video below to see the results:
