TE Juwan Johnson to return to Saints with a three-year contract.

Katherine Terrell, who rejoined ESPN in 2022 to cover the New Orleans Saints, previously covered the Cincinnati Bengals from 2016 until 2019. She is a Baton Rouge native and LSU graduate with a history of NFL reporting since 2013. Recently, tight end Juwan Johnson, who experienced foot surgery last summer, re-signed with the Saints on a three-year deal. Since joining as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and switching from wide receiver to tight end, Johnson has made significant contributions, including a career-high 50 receptions and three touchdowns last season, totaling 146 receptions and 18 touchdowns in five seasons.

Tight end Juwan Johnson has come to terms on a three-year deal to stay with the New Orleans Saints, as announced by his agent AJ Vaynerchuk via social media on Tuesday.

At 28 years old, Johnson dealt with a foot injury last summer that necessitated surgery, resulting in him missing a significant portion of training camp. However, he made his return for the season opener and participated in all 17 games, logging a career-high 50 receptions and three touchdowns.

Originally signed by New Orleans as an undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver from Oregon in 2020, Johnson saw a position change initiated by former Saints coach Sean Payton in 2021 after recording just four receptions as a rookie.

In the 2022 season, he recorded 42 receptions for 508 yards and led the team with seven receiving touchdowns from quarterback Andy Dalton. Before the 2023 season, he signed a two-year contract extension.

Over five seasons, Johnson has amassed 146 career receptions for 1,622 yards and 18 touchdowns.
