Tamil Nadu NEET Student Dies by Suicide Following Father’s Harsh Words Over Incorrect OTP

In Chennai, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant named Indhu allegedly died by suicide after being scolded by her father for miscommunicating a wrong OTP needed for applying for an OBC certificate. Her father applied successfully despite the error but reprimanded her when he returned home. Initially, there were claims that her suicide was due to anxiety over academic performance, but police dismissed this notion. Indhu had completed her Class 12 at a local government school and had attended NEET coaching in Puducherry, where she previously scored 350 marks but failed to pass the exam.
Chennai:

A student preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam reportedly died by suicide following an argument with her father. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Indhu from Viluppuram, was distressed after her father reprimanded her for giving an incorrect OTP while he was applying for the Other Backward Class (OBC) certificate.

Her father had visited a government center to submit the application, and when he contacted her, she provided the wrong OTP on two occasions.

The OTP was issued to her as part of the application procedure.

Although the father eventually completed the application in time, he allegedly scolded her when he returned home.

Earlier reports suggested she took her life due to anxiety about performing poorly in the exam; however, the police have denied this assertion.

As per reports, she completed her Class 12 education at a government higher secondary school in her village.

She had also participated in NEET coaching at a private institute in Puducherry and had attempted the exam last year, scoring 350 marks but failing to pass.
