Australian allrounder Moises Henriques has signed with Notts Outlaws for the 2025 Vitality Blast, adding significant experience to the team. At 38, Henriques boasts 282 T20 matches and has excelled as captain of the Sydney Sixers, leading them to two Big Bash League titles. He has played in nine IPL seasons and contributed to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 2016 win. Joining Australian teammate Daniel Sams, Henriques aims to enhance Notts’ performance following a disappointing 2024 season. Head coach Peter Moores praised his leadership and experience, highlighting the value he will bring to the squad.
Henriques, who has participated in 10 matches in the tournament for Surrey during two periods, the latest being in 2017, has represented his country 44 times, with the majority (24) in T20 internationals.
The 38-year-old brings extensive experience, having played 282 matches in the T20 format. As the captain of Sydney Sixers, he has steered his team to two Big Bash League championships, and he holds the record for the most appearances in Australia’s domestic league, as well as being the fourth top run-scorer in its history.
A key player in the global franchise circuit, Henriques has participated in nine seasons of the Indian Premier League and played a significant role in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s victory in 2016. He has also claimed two titles in the now-defunct T20 Champions League with New South Wales.
“I’m eagerly looking forward to heading to Nottingham this season to compete in the Blast,” Henriques expressed. “Trent Bridge is a legendary cricket venue and I can’t wait to play in front of their fantastic crowds.
“Personally, I’ve made some wonderful friendships over the years with past players and staff from Notts, and I believe their values reflect their time there, which I can’t wait to experience.”
“Notts has achieved a lot of success over the last decade, and I aim to contribute to that. The current team appears to be incredibly talented and youthful, and I hope that my global T20 experience can add some value to the group both on and off the field.”
Nottinghamshire finished in last place in the North Group in 2024, and they have not progressed to the later phases of the T20 Blast since their second victory in 2020.
“Moises’s experience and skill as a player will significantly enhance our squad, while he will act as another leader within the group,” said head coach Peter Moores. “His reputation as a captain is well known. He will provide exceptional support for Joe (Clarke) as he continues to develop in that role.
“His capability to navigate a run chase or set a score with the bat has been consistently demonstrated over the years, bringing experience and stability to a revamped batting lineup. Importantly, he is accustomed to operating in a winning environment, which aligns perfectly with the mentality we seek to cultivate as we progress as a team.”
