Australian allrounder Moises Henriques will join Notts Outlaws for the 2025 Vitality Blast. At 38, he boasts significant T20 experience, with 282 matches played and a successful captaincy at Sydney Sixers, leading them to two Big Bash League titles. Henriques has been capped 44 times for Australia, primarily in T20Is, and has participated in nine IPL editions, notably contributing to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 2016 victory. Excited about joining the Outlaws, he aims to share his experience with the squad. Head coach Peter Moores praises Henriques for his leadership qualities and impact on the team’s performance.

Australian allrounder Moises Henriques has signed with Notts Outlaws for the 2025 Vitality Blast.

Henriques, who has participated in 10 matches in the tournament with Surrey over two periods, the latest being in 2017, has represented his country 44 times, with the majority (24) in T20 internationals.

The 38-year-old adds considerable experience, having played 282 matches in the T20 format. As the captain of Sydney Sixers, he has guided his team to two Big Bash League titles, holds the record for the most appearances in Australia’s domestic circuit, and ranks as the fourth-highest run-scorer in its history.

A key player in the global franchise landscape, Henriques has participated in nine seasons of the Indian Premier League and played a significant role in the 2016 victory of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has also claimed two titles in the now-defunct T20 Champions League with New South Wales.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to Nottingham this season for the Blast,” Henriques stated. “Trent Bridge is a legendary cricket venue, and I can’t wait to play in front of their fantastic crowds.

“Personally, I’ve built wonderful friendships over the years with past players and staff from Notts, and I’m eager to experience the values they uphold during my time there.

“Notts has enjoyed considerable success over the past decade, and I’m keen to contribute to that. The current squad is very talented and youthful, and I hope my global T20 cricket experiences will add value both on and off the pitch.”

Henriques will occupy the Outlaws’ second overseas position, teaming up with fellow Australian Daniel Sams, providing a welcome boost after the announcement that veteran opener Alex Hales will miss the English season to pursue franchise opportunities elsewhere during the summer.

Nottinghamshire finished last in the North Group in 2024 and have not progressed beyond the early stages of the T20 Blast since their second title win in 2020.

“Moises’s experience and skills will greatly enhance our squad, making him another leader within the team,” noted head coach Peter Moores. “His outstanding captaincy reputation speaks for itself. He’ll provide invaluable support for Joe (Clarke) as he works to establish himself in that role.

“His proficiency in managing run chases or setting scores with the bat is well established, bringing experience and stability to a restructured batting lineup. Importantly, he’s accustomed to winning environments, which aligns perfectly with the mentality we strive to cultivate as we progress as a team.”
