Suspect in Sullivan’s Island hit-and-run that left three injured arrested and charged.

Authorities have apprehended 36-year-old Justin Collin Adams in relation to a hit-and-run incident on Sullivan’s Island that injured three people, including two children. He was captured while hiding on a boat after a shelter-in-place alert. Adams faces three counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault and battery. The incident occurred around 12:47 p.m. when a vehicle struck pedestrians at Sunrise Presbyterian Church. One child was treated at the scene, while an adult and another child were hospitalized but are expected to recover. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is overseeing the investigation.

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) – Law enforcement has apprehended and charged a man involved in a hit-and-run incident that left three individuals injured, including two children.

Justin Collin Adams, 36, was arrested by authorities at 5:57 p.m. in the 3000 block of Jasper Boulevard, where he was found hiding on a boat following a shelter-in-place advisory. He is now in custody, as confirmed by Sullivan’s Island Police Chief Glenn Meadows.

Adams has been taken to the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center, facing three charges of attempted murder as well as first-degree assault and battery.

Authorities responded to reports of a crash causing multiple injuries around 12:47 p.m.

“A vehicle drove onto the property of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, colliding with pedestrians,” he explained.

The victims include an adult and two children. One child received treatment at the scene and was subsequently released, while EMS transported the adult and the other child to a nearby hospital.

Isle of Palms Police Sgt. Matt Storen mentioned that both victims are expected to recover well, but there was no update on their condition available just before 4:30 p.m.

After the incident, investigators reported that the driver fled the scene on foot, reportedly armed with a knife.
