Sony has increased PlayStation 5 prices in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand due to economic challenges, high inflation, and fluctuating exchange rates. This marks the second price hike since 2022. The PS5 Digital Edition will start at €499.99/£429.99 in Europe, up from €449.99/£389.99, while in Australia, the optical disc drive version now costs AUD 829.95. The PS5 Pro’s price remains unchanged. Notably, the PS5 disc edition will not see a price increase in Europe, but the price of the PS5 Disc Drive attachment will drop to €79.99/£69.99 in Europe and AUD $124.95 in Australia and New Zealand.
Sony is increasing the prices of the PlayStation 5 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand starting today. The company stated that the adjustment to the recommended retail price (RRP) is a response to the “challenging economic landscape, elevated inflation rates, and fluctuating currency exchange rates.” This is the second time the PS5 has seen a price increase since its launch, following the adjustment made in 2022.
Sony also indicated that some markets within the EMEA region could experience price increases, and it is reasonable to anticipate hikes in other major markets such as the US.
In Europe, the standard PS5 Digital Edition will now be priced at €499.99/£429.99, up from the previous €449.99/£389.99. In Australia, the PS5 with an optical disc drive will now be priced at AUD 829.95 and NZD 949.95, respectively. However, the PS5 Digital Edition will not see price increases in these areas. Additionally, Sony confirmed that the price of the PS5 Pro will remain the same.

While the PS5 disc edition will not see a price increase in Europe, it will be pricier in Australia and New Zealand.
Conversely, Sony is reducing the retail price of its PS5 Disc Drive attachment, which will now be available for €79.99/£69.99 in Europe and AUD $124.95/NZD $139.95 in Australia and New Zealand.
