The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen is losing features this year, but excitement surrounds a rumored update for the Galaxy Z Fold7’s S Pen. Reports suggest a redesign, making it slightly thicker, raising questions about whether this change is for ergonomics or to accommodate new features. Unlike the S Ultras, the Z Folds lack a built-in S Pen holster, requiring separate purchases with compatible cases, allowing for a bulkier design without affecting the device’s internal layout. Users are hopeful that essential features like Bluetooth and Air Actions will remain in the updated S Pen for the Z Fold7.
This year, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen losing some features, the rumors regarding a forthcoming S Pen update for the Galaxy Z Fold7 are somewhat comforting. Or at least that’s our perspective.
Samsung’s S Pen
A recent report on X suggests that Samsung intends to redesign the S Pen for the Z Fold7, increasing its thickness slightly. The pertinent question is whether this adjustment is aimed at improving ergonomics and usability or if new features are being introduced that necessitate a larger form factor.
In contrast to the Galaxy S Ultras, the Z Folds lack an integrated holder for the S Pen, requiring users to purchase it separately along with a compatible case. This allows Samsung the flexibility to make the S Pen bulkier without impacting the internal layout of the Z Fold7.
We remain optimistic that Samsung will retain the Bluetooth and Air Actions features.
