Samsung is rumored to introduce a tri-fold device that features a unique G-shaped design, unlike Huawei’s Z-style. This design protects the folding screen when the device is folded, offering a key advantage over the Huawei Mate XT. However, it requires a secondary cover screen as a trade-off. The tri-fold device is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in July, with parts procurement and mass production beginning in April. The device will reportedly have a 9.96″ screen when unfolded and a 6.49″ cover screen, with limited production of about 200,000 units for select markets.
Samsung is reportedly entering the tri-fold market, taking cues from Huawei but opting for a distinct design that takes on a G shape rather than Huawei’s Z style. One of the benefits of Samsung’s approach is that, when folded, the screen isn’t exposed, unlike the Huawei Mate XT. However, a downside to Samsung’s design is the necessity of an additional cover screen.
According to a recent rumor emerging from Korea, Samsung is expected to unveil the tri-fold device in conjunction with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, likely around July, assuming they stick to last year’s timeline.

Before the official launch, Samsung is set to begin sourcing components for the device in April, coinciding with the rumored start of mass production.
The tri-fold device is anticipated to feature a 9.96″ screen when fully opened, along with a 6.49″ cover screen. Reports suggest that Samsung plans to produce only around 200,000 units of this model, and its availability may be restricted to select countries.
