Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor featuring a 500Hz refresh rate launches worldwide.

Samsung has announced the global rollout of its Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor, the first 500Hz OLED monitor. It features a 27-inch QD-OLED panel with a 500Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, and 2560 x 1440 resolution. Certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, it reaches 500 nits brightness and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space. The monitor also incorporates a Glare Free layer and OLED Safeguard+ technology to prevent burn-ins. Supporting Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro, it will initially be available in select countries before a wider rollout by year-end.

Samsung has officially unveiled the worldwide launch of its Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor, marking it as the first 500Hz OLED monitor globally.

This monitor showcases a 27-inch QD-OLED panel boasting a 500Hz refresh rate, with an impressive 0.03ms GtG (gray-to-gray) response time and a resolution of 2560 x 1440px. It holds a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, allowing it to achieve 500 nits of brightness, covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, ensuring that blacks appear truly black—as expected from an OLED display.

Samsung claims the monitor can reach up to 1000 nits, although that peak brightness applies only to a limited area, specifically 3% of the screen.

Nevertheless, 500 nits should suffice, especially when combined with Samsung’s Glare Free layer. Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G6 incorporates OLED Safeguard+ technology to mitigate burn-in risks during prolonged usage.

Furthermore, the device is compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive refresh rate technologies.

Currently, the monitor is set to launch in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, with a wider global release anticipated by the end of this year.
