Samsung has recently announced the Galaxy S25 Edge, but rumors are already circulating about its successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge, expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra. The company may discontinue the Galaxy S26+, which has been a poor seller in the flagship lineup, replacing it with the S26 Edge. This follows a similar strategy by Apple, rumored to replace its iPhone Plus model. While this information is speculative, Samsung’s sales targets indicate a significant disparity in performance among the S25 models, with the S25+ projected to sell only 6.7 million units this year.
Samsung has just introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge a few hours ago, and already there’s speculation regarding its successor, as it seems there will definitely be one. According to sources in Korea, the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
If you noticed something missing, you’re correct. Reports indicate that Samsung is contemplating discontinuing the Galaxy S26+, as this Plus model has consistently been the lowest seller in its flagship lineup for several years now.
Consequently, if this plan comes to fruition, the Galaxy S26 Edge will effectively replace the Galaxy S26+ in the company’s product lineup. This may sound familiar, as Apple is also rumored to substitute its iPhone Plus model with the iPhone 17 Air, which, similar to the Galaxy Edge, promotes a slim design as its unique feature.
That being said, it’s important to remember that this is still a very early rumor. Samsung has only just begun developing the S26 series. Thus, plans may evolve, and from the phrasing of the rumor, it appears the company has not reached a final decision yet; however, they are seriously considering phasing out the S26+ in favor of the S26 Edge. We hope the second-generation Edge will incorporate Si/C battery technology to offer increased mAh capacity.
To illustrate the poor performance of the S25+, Samsung’s current target is to sell 37.7 million units of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra together this year. Of that total, the Ultra accounts for 17.4 million units, the standard S25 13.6 million units, and the S25+ only 6.7 million units.
