Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Confirmed to Showcase the Late Arrival of Exynos 2500

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7, set for release alongside the Fold7 in early July, is rumored to feature the new Exynos 2500 SoC. Initially intended for the Galaxy S25, production yield issues delayed its release, leading to the use of the Snapdragon 8 Elite in that model. With those issues reportedly resolved, the Exynos 2500 will likely power the Flip7 in most markets, including India and Korea, marking its debut in a foldable device. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Elite may still be used in North America and China. The Exynos 2500 features a ten-core CPU and an AMD-based GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is anticipated to be unveiled alongside the Fold7 in early July, but there’s been some ambiguity regarding its chipset. A recent report claims to ‘confirm’ (to the extent that any rumor can) that the Galaxy Z Flip7 will feature Samsung’s Exynos 2500 SoC for the first time.

Originally, the Exynos 2500 was intended for the Galaxy S25 series, but production yield issues forced Samsung to pivot to the Snapdragon 8 Elite instead. It seems that those yield problems have now been resolved, or perhaps they are less relevant given the lower expected sales figures for the Flip7.

This, of course, hinges on the veracity of this rumor. The source further suggests that the Exynos 2500 will be utilized in various regions, including India and Korea. This marks the first time an Exynos chipset has been featured in a foldable Samsung device, making it quite significant. Allegedly, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will be reserved for markets like China and North America.

The Exynos 2500 boasts a ten-core CPU configuration, consisting of one Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.3 GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 2.75 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 2.36 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz. Its GPU is the Xclipse 950, which is based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture.
