A report from Hana Securities reveals that Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is the most popular model, outselling its siblings combined. In the first two months, Samsung sold 9.16 million S25 units, with 5.08 million being the Ultra, 2.41 million the standard S25, and 1.67 million the S25+. This disparity raises questions about the future of the S25+ model. The upcoming S25 Edge will be an additional option but not a replacement. Despite being the priciest option, the Ultra is seen as the premier smartphone due to its high-end features, making it a more appealing choice for consumers.
A recent report from Hana Securities, based in Korea, highlights that Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is the standout model in its lineup. It has reportedly outsold both of its counterparts combined.
In just the first two months since launch, Samsung has sold approximately 9.16 million Galaxy S25 units across all models. Remarkably, 5.08 million of those are Galaxy S25 Ultra devices, representing over half of the total sales. The Galaxy S25 has sold 2.41 million units, while the S25+ trails with 1.67 million. Together, the sales of the S25 and S25+ fall short by 1 million units compared to the S25 Ultra.
This raises the question: is it time to retire the Plus model? Apple found itself in a similar predicament and opted to discontinue the Plus, introducing instead the iPhone 17 Air. Samsung is set to introduce the S25 Edge, but this will serve as a fourth model rather than replacing any existing ones. It will be intriguing to see if the Edge can surpass the S25+ in sales, especially since it shares the same screen size yet is slimmer and does not feature a dedicated telephoto camera (although it does sport a superior main camera).
While it may seem surprising that the Ultra, being the most expensive option, leads in sales, it is logical. The Ultra represents Samsung’s ultimate flagship offering, whereas the other models include various compromises. For those seeking the pinnacle of the Samsung smartphone experience, only the Ultra can meet those expectations. Additionally, when considering a payment plan, the monthly cost difference compared to its siblings is relatively minimal.
