Samsung Files Another Lawsuit Against BOE

Samsung and BOE, major display manufacturers, have faced multiple legal disputes, with the latest focusing on patent issues, which Samsung won. Now, Samsung is pursuing a new case against BOE for allegedly stealing trade secrets. Samsung claims BOE has engaged in unethical practices, such as poaching employees and colluding to acquire confidential information from the Samsung Display supply chain. BOE reportedly has the necessary information to set up OLED panel manufacturing at its Chengdu plant and has allegedly accessed data for developing micro-OLED displays. The case is set to be heard in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Samsung and BOE, two major players in the display manufacturing industry, have faced off in court multiple times. Their latest conflict revolved around a patent, culminating in a victory for Samsung at the US International Trade Commission last month. Now, the South Korean technology leader is pursuing legal action again, this time regarding alleged theft of trade secrets.

Samsung accuses BOE of repeatedly engaging in unethical practices, such as recruiting crucial employees and conspiring with other companies within the Samsung Display supply chain to misappropriate trade secrets.

The Chinese manufacturer reportedly possesses all the necessary information to establish OLED panel production equipment at its Chengdu facility. Furthermore, BOE is alleged to have stolen data that has facilitated the advancement of micro-OLED displays.

Samsung is now pursuing a range of remedies, including compensation for potential losses in operating profit. The lawsuit is set to be adjudicated in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
