New Delhi:

The chief of RSS, Mohan Bhagwat, expressed his admiration on Wednesday for the newly constructed multi-storey office of the organization in the national capital, urging the ‘swayamsevaks’ to ensure that their efforts are as “grand” as the new office facilities.

Built over eight years at a cost of nearly Rs 150 crore, the new high-rise complex, Keshav Kunj, features three 13-storey towers containing around 300 rooms and offices. According to sources, its construction was funded through contributions from more than 75,000 individuals who support RSS ideology and its initiatives.

During the ‘Karyakarta Sammelan’, which marked the official launch of RSS activities from the new premises in Delhi, he advised the office-bearers and volunteers (swayamsevaks) to stay true to their mission, stating, “Our circumstances have improved compared to the times of hardship we once faced. As conditions evolve, we must always ensure that our direction remains unchanged.” He cautioned that “the situation can shift rapidly. The previous neglect (towards RSS) has diminished. The opposition has receded. We continued our progress,” added the RSS chief.

Mr. Bhagwat noted that the RSS’s operations are gaining momentum nationwide, expanding “day by day”.

“Today marks the ‘praveshotsav’ (celebration of homecoming) for this newly reconstructed building. Our efforts should be as magnificent as this structure itself. It should reflect that grandeur,” he emphasized.

“We envision this work reaching across the globe and restoring Bharat to the status of Vishwaguru. We are optimistic that we will witness this in our lifetime,” said the RSS chief.

For this vision to be realized, he stressed that every swayamsevak must engage in selfless work and show unwavering commitment to the cause.

“Our initiatives must mirror the magnificence of this new edifice,” Mr. Bhagwat remarked in his address.

He further mentioned that the Sangh’s activities are broadening in “multiple dimensions” and urged all swayamsevaks to embody “purity and capability” in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.

“Prosperity is essential—we must have what we need, but it should be acquired within limits,” he stated, adding, “The newly constructed building by Keshav Smarak Samiti is indeed impressive. Nonetheless, with this grandeur comes a responsibility that we must uphold.” On this occasion, Mr. Bhagwat paid tribute to RSS founder and first Sarsanghchalak (chief) Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and his “arduous efforts during the early days of the Sangh, which commenced in Mahal, Nagpur”.

He observed that, as the national capital, Delhi serves as the hub for numerous activities and is decisive in providing guidance.

Thus, the establishment of a structure that meets the demands was necessary, leading to the inception of this ‘karyalaya’ (office), he mentioned.

“Although the building is now complete, the Sangh’s endeavors do not conclude here. We must always remember that criticism and opposition keep us alert. In a positive atmosphere, we must still exercise caution,” Mr. Bhagwat remarked.

“While the karyalaya inspires us to work, it is each swayamsevak’s duty to cultivate a supportive environment within the building,” he added.

Present at the event in Jhandewalan were RSS national general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, along with other senior officials and office-bearers, including representatives from RSS affiliates.

Notable attendees included Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other BJP leaders, such as party chief J P Nadda, who also visited the RSS new office to join in the event.

The RSS’s Delhi office, along with several affiliated organizations, has gradually transitioned to the new high-rise complex over the past few months.

Since 2016, the organization has been operating from rented spaces while the rebuilding and renovation process took place at its previous location, where it has functioned since 1962.

The new premises represent a significant upgrade from the old two-storey building, combining modern technology with traditional architectural techniques to create a space filled with natural light and airflow.

The three towers (ground floor plus 12 floors) are named Sadhna, Prerna, and Archna. One of the largest auditoriums is named after Ashok Singhal, a prominent Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader closely connected to the Ram temple movement. This state-of-the-art auditorium seats 463 people, while another hall accommodates an audience of 650.

The RSS office includes accommodation facilities for its functionaries and members, alongside a library, health clinic, and a sewage treatment plant. It is also equipped with solar power facilities to meet some of its overall electricity needs.
