Rogers High School is set to make history by competing in the boys state high school hockey tournament for the first time. The Rogers Royals will face Edina in their inaugural tournament game on Thursday night.
We’re just one day away from the puck drop at the boys state high school hockey tournament, and one of the participating schools, Rogers, is getting ready to make its debut at the Xcel Energy Center, marking a historic moment for their program.

“It’s thrilling to be the team that breaks the barrier and inspires the younger generations to believe it’s achievable,” stated defenseman Nolen Geerdes.
“In recent years, we have come so close. Finally making it there, it’s a privilege to be the first,” expressed forward Keaton Weis.
Coach David Brown emphasizes that their participation on such a prominent platform serves as a testament that there’s space for unexpected programs to shine.
“Look at Andover winning the state championship a few years back; perhaps they opened the door for other metro fringe programs to see what’s possible,” Brown said.
Rogers is set to face Edina on Thursday night.
