Review the Correspondence from Fani T. Willis to Representative Jim Jordan

Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis wrote to Congressman Jim Jordan on February 20, 2025, addressing the House Judiciary Committee’s requests for documents and testimonies from her office regarding an ongoing criminal investigation. Willis expressed that these requests threaten the integrity of the investigation and undermine state sovereignty and federalism. She indicated that Jordan’s inquiry into the Office’s contacts with the House Select Committee regarding the January 6th Capitol attack is a misguided attempt to interfere with the judicial process, reiterating previous communications on the matter.

Dear Mr. Jordan:
I find it necessary to reach out to you once more in my role as District Attorney for Fulton County and on behalf of my office concerning the requests made by the House Judiciary Committee (‘Committee’) directed at several Fulton County staff, seeking documents and testimony regarding their roles within the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (‘FCDA’ or ‘Office’).’
For several years now, I have articulated that the essence of your requests—pertaining to an ongoing criminal investigation—jeopardizes the integrity of an active criminal case, violates long-standing precedents regarding the separation of powers in Congress, and undermines essential principles of state sovereignty and federalism.²
Let’s be candid, Mr. Jordan. Your so-called ‘investigation’ into the Office’s interactions with the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol has consistently been a troubling effort, orchestrated at the behest of those under scrutiny.
