Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s new Chief Minister and first-time MLA, had a full agenda on her first day in office.

Immediately after taking the oath alongside her council of ministers, consisting of six leaders, this afternoon, she made her way to the Delhi Secretariat to meet with officials and fellow leaders.

After the meetings and exchanges of greetings, the first action taken by the Chief Minister was to convene a cabinet meeting.

“We will have a cabinet meeting today. Our focus will be on the mission of Viksit Delhi (developed Delhi), and we are committed to fulfilling all the promises we have made… At 5 PM, we will head to the Yamuna ghat for aarti (prayers). She serves as the representative of the Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency.

Her cabinet includes Parvesh Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. Their portfolios have yet to be determined.

The Chief Minister’s visit to the Yamuna ghat signifies the BJP’s triumph in Delhi after a 26-year gap, especially as the party had criticized the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government regarding the heavily polluted river.

Political analysts suggest that the BJP’s campaign focused on cleaning the Yamuna has been effective.
