Breaking news suggests that “Red Dead Redemption 2” may finally receive an upgrade for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, along with a potential re-release. Rumors from GameReactor indicate a source close to Rockstar Games has confirmed the upgrade, although no official announcement has been made. It’s speculated that the upgrade could be free for existing owners. Additionally, a re-release for Nintendo Switch 2 is hinted at, alongside a possible re-release of the original “GTA IV” with all DLC. This could be a significant year for Rockstar, especially with the delayed launch of “GTA VI” pushed to May 2026.
breaking news

Red Dead Redemption 2 may finally receive an upgrade for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, along with a new release.
Rockstar Games’ finest title (yes, I said it) has long needed some form of re-release or update on current platforms, as the version we’re using is still the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 edition.
Nonetheless, it’s still breathtakingly beautiful, so just imagine the visuals with enhanced hardware support.
This information comes from GameReactor, which cites a source connected to Rockstar Games that has revealed Red Dead Redemption 2 is due for an upgrade, although it hasn’t been confirmed officially yet, so be cautious with this news.
Additionally, there are claims that Red Dead Redemption 2 will also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2, which might sound unrealistic, but Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on that console this year, so why not?
Regarding the upgrade, it’s expected to be free for existing owners of Red Dead Redemption 2, but if Rockstar charges for it, it’s likely to frustrate many fans.
Considering Rockstar Games is already facing backlash for pushing back the release of GTA VI to May 2026, releasing this upgrade could help mend relations with disgruntled fans.
Furthermore, it’s also rumored that Rockstar is preparing to re-release another version of GTA IV—not a remaster, but a straight re-release of the original, likely including all DLC alongside enhanced resolution and framerate.
If the rumors hold true and we see both a GTA IV re-release and a new-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2, it could be an exciting year for Rockstar Games, even in the absence of GTA VI.
