Realme aims to double its global user base within three years, starting with the launch of the Realme 14 Pro series in Europe. The Pro+ model is priced from €530 and features a quad-curved display, a 50MP periscope camera, and 80W charging, while the Pro starts at €430 with a more basic setup. Both models are IP69 rated. Realme is also showcasing innovative AI features and an intriguing prototype smartphone with interchangeable DSLR-like lenses at MWC. Though impressive, this lens concept is unlikely to see mass production. Realme seeks to ship 100 million AI smartphones globally in three years.

Realme has set an ambitious target – aiming to double its global user base within the next three years. Kicking off this initiative today is the launch of the Realme 14 Pro series in Europe. Additionally, this marks Realme’s inaugural MWC appearance, which they are celebrating with a prototype smartphone that features removable DSLR-like lenses.

Initially revealed in China, the Realme 14 Pro and Pro+ have made their way to India and are now launching in Europe. Both models will be available starting today (March 3).

The starting price for the Realme 14 Pro+ is €530, while the standard Pro model begins at €430. The Pro+ showcases high-end features such as a quad-curved display, a 50MP 73mm periscope (3x), and rapid 80W charging for its 6,000mAh Si/C battery. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and comes equipped with Gorilla Glass 7i protection on both front and back. In contrast, the Realme 14 Pro operates on a Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset. Its battery maintains the same 6,000mAh capacity but limits charging to 45W. The Pro features a flat display with a lower pixel density, yet it still offers a 10-bit 120Hz OLED panel. Both models are rated IP69 (including IPX6 and IPX8) and comply with MIL-STD-810H standards. However, the standard model does not include the GG 7i glass. While it is more affordable, it lacks not just the periscope camera but also the 8MP ultra-wide and the higher resolution selfie camera (16MP FF compared to 32MP AF).

As part of its strategy to double its user base, Realme is placing a strong emphasis on AI, with a goal to ship 100 million AI smartphones worldwide over the next three years. The company showcased two exciting features at MWC.

The first is the AI Voice Retoucher – this allows users to simply instruct the phone on what to do, such as “change the sky to sunset,” instead of navigating through on-screen menus. The second feature is the AI Video Eraser, which can remove objects from videos.

Additionally, Realme plans to partner with popular brands to elevate its profile. This year, two partnerships are on the horizon: one with a prominent entertainment IP and another with a leading luxury brand.

Realme is pushing the envelope in smartphone photography by integrating a periscope camera in its 14 Pro+ mid-range device. However, they are also exploring further potential with this prototype device.

This prototype features a customized 1” sensor from Sony along with a proprietary lens mount system. Two compatible lenses were also showcased: a 73mm portrait lens and a 234mm telephoto lens, both designed to work with the 1” sensor and capable of achieving image quality beyond the reach of currently available smartphones, even the most advanced models.

It’s important to note that this is merely a prototype intended to impress MWC attendees – and it certainly did. However, don’t expect this to hit store shelves anytime soon, as the Interchangeable Lens Concept is unlikely to enter mass production.
