Rahul Gandhi Addresses Dalit Students

During a visit to Raebareli, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi praised the significant role of Dalits in shaping India’s Constitution. Addressing Dalit students at the Mool Bharti hostel, he stressed that the system often hinders their progress. When discussing the lack of Dalit leadership in major companies, he challenged the students to reflect on the absence of facilities and opportunities. Gandhi emphasized that despite facing systemic obstacles, like B.R. Ambedkar, who excelled without resources, the constitutional ideology belongs to them. He affirmed that without Dalits, India would not have its Constitution and urged the youths to recognize their strength against systemic challenges.
Raebareli:

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi praised the contributions of Dalits in the creation of the Constitution, stating, “it’s your ideology, yet wherever you go, the system crushes you.”

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Raebareli MP made these remarks while engaging with a group of Dalit students at the ‘Mool Bharti’ hostel near Bargad Chauraha. He was joined by Congress Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma and other party members.

Mr. Gandhi mentioned several prominent private companies among the “top 500” firms and questioned the youths about how many of these had a Dalit in leadership positions.

When one student replied “none,” Mr. Gandhi challenged him, “Why not?” Another student explained, “because we lack adequate facilities.”

Disagreeing, Mr. Gandhi remarked, “(B R) Ambedkar ji had no facilities. He worked alone but still changed the political landscape of the country.” He further elaborated, “There is a whole system that opposes you and hinders your progress. The system attacks you daily, often without your awareness,” he told the students.

“You must realize that the ideology of the Constitution aligns with your beliefs. I assure you, had Dalits not existed in this country, we would not have a Constitution. It belongs to you, but you are currently being suppressed by the system,” he emphasized.

Mr. Gandhi is visiting his parliamentary constituency for two days, starting Thursday.
