Qualcomm plans event to unveil flagship Snapdragon processor

Qualcomm is set to launch its next-generation flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, at an event on April 2. This chip is expected to succeed last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which powered upper midrange devices like the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The 8s Gen 4 will feature a 1+3+2+2 architecture, including a Cortex-X4 prime core and multiple Cortex-A720 cores. Additionally, it will include an Adreno 825 GPU with a 6MB SLC cache and an 8MB L3 cache, reportedly scoring over 2 million on AnTuTu. The initial phones with this chip are expected to launch in late April.

Qualcomm has announced a new product launch event scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, later this week. The event will showcase the brand’s upcoming flagship chipset, which is not anticipated to be a more powerful iteration of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Instead, it will serve as the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip that powered upper mid-range devices such as the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Honor 200 Pro, and Poco F6.

Additionally, Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Adreno 825 GPU, which bears similarities to the Adreno 830 found in the SD 8 Elite but features fewer cores. It will also include 6MB of SLC cache and 8MB of L3 cache. The upcoming chip is said to achieve over 2 million points on AnTuTu.
