An 82-year-old homeopathic physician and his 36-year-old daughter were discovered deceased at their residence in Bhopal on Sunday. Authorities reported that a note was found, requesting that their bodies be donated for educational purposes.
The four-page note, allegedly penned by Dr. Harikishan Sharma, conveyed his inability to cope with the sorrow of his wife’s passing four years prior. Additionally, his daughter, a fellow homeopath, had reportedly fallen into depression following her mother’s death.
According to area police inspector Avdhesh Singh Tomar, Sharma took his own life, while the circumstances surrounding Chitra’s death remain unclear, pending post-mortem examination results.
The suicide note expressed the homoeopath’s desire for their remains to be donated to AIIMS Bhopal, aiding medical students in their study of human anatomy, as stated by Mr. Tomar.
In his message, Sharma reflected on the emotional toll of losing his wife and revealed his deteriorating health. He found it increasingly challenging to care for his daughter, who was grappling with her own depressive state, according to the police officer.
The elderly man was reportedly concerned about his daughter’s future once he was gone, as noted by Mr. Tomar.
It was mentioned that Sharma had previously lost his son long ago.
The father and daughter had been diligent in providing medical assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic and were known for their generosity during medical emergencies, the police officer remarked.
A patient arrived at Sharma’s home, where he operated a dispensary, but after half an hour of no response, they alerted the neighbors. Upon checking, the neighbors discovered Sharma hanging and subsequently contacted the authorities, Mr. Tomar recounted.
