ColorOS 15, introduced with the Oppo Find X8 series, features O+ Connect, allowing file sharing between Oppo devices and iPhones. With the launch of the Oppo Find N5, this capability expands to Macs, enabling users to view, move, search, and delete files on their phones wirelessly via the same Wi-Fi network. The Remote Mac Control feature lets users access the macOS desktop through the Find N5’s display, with the option to use part of the screen as a touchpad or keyboard. An upcoming update will enable direct access to Mac files from the phone’s Files app. Windows users also benefit from similar integration.
ColorOS 15, which debuted with the Oppo Find X8 series, introduced the O+ Connect feature, enabling seamless file sharing between Oppo devices and iPhones or iPads. With the launch of the Oppo Find N5, the company is now rolling out O+ Connect for Mac.
In essence, this feature allows you to view, move, search, and delete files on your phone directly from your Mac or MacBook. You can browse files without the need to copy them, such as viewing your recent photos. Additionally, any edits made on your computer will be reflected on your phone instantly.
O+ Connect for Mac
This function works locally; simply connect both the Mac and the Find N5 to the same Wi-Fi network. You can manage various types of files including photos, videos, notes, and documents. Thanks to fast wireless networking, transferring 100 photos from your phone to your computer can take as little as 8 seconds.
O+ Connect for Mac also features a remote desktop capability known as Remote Mac Control. Users can utilize the full 8.12” inner display of the Oppo Find N5 to view the macOS desktop, or fold the device at a 90° angle. This configuration segments the screen, displaying macOS on the top half while the bottom half becomes a touchpad capable of handling all the gestures familiar to Apple touchpads. Alternatively, that bottom section can serve as a keyboard.
What’s particularly intriguing is that the Remote Mac Control function can operate in split-screen mode; on stage, Oppo demonstrated how users could drag a file from the macOS desktop into WhatsApp for sharing.
Enabling the Remote Mac Control feature on the Oppo Find N5
Oppo is working on an update for O+ Connect for Mac, which will enable users to access files stored on their Mac directly through the phone’s Files app. This improvement will allow you to bypass the remote desktop connection when simply looking to copy or share a file.
For Windows users, Oppo Connect offers additional integration between Oppo smartphones and Windows PCs, enhancing the existing capabilities provided by Microsoft.
