Oppo announces the release date for the Find X8 Ultra.

Oppo’s Find X8 Ultra, initially rumored for a March launch, is now set to be unveiled and go on sale in April, as confirmed by product manager Zhou Yibao. Described as potentially the only Ultra phone with a flat screen from a Chinese manufacturer this year, it features a 6.82-inch “2K” OLED display, a 1-inch main camera, and dual periscope telephoto lenses. Oppo will also launch a new “ultra-thin small screen flagship,” likely the Find X8 Mini, aiming to compete with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 17 Air, with a thickness between 7 mm and 7.99 mm.

Earlier this week, a rumor suggested that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra would launch in China in March, but it seems that was a bit overly optimistic. Today, Oppo Find series product manager Zhou Yibao officially announced that the Find X8 Ultra will be unveiled in April, with availability in stores that same month.

Zhou mentioned that this might be the only Ultra phone released by a Chinese manufacturer this year featuring a flat screen. It is said to have the narrowest something in the world, although he didn’t specify what he meant. Perhaps it relates to the bezels? The Ultra has been rumored to come equipped with a 6.82-inch “2K” OLED display made by BOE, a main camera with a 1-inch sensor, as well as two periscope telephoto lenses and an ultrawide camera.

In addition to the Ultra, Oppo is set to introduce a new “ultra-thin small screen flagship Find,” likely referring to the previously rumored Find X8 Next. This device had been known as the Find X8 Mini, which makes the term “small screen flagship” more clear. The rebranding might indicate that Oppo aims to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone 17 Air, considering it is rumored to measure between 7 mm and 7.99 mm in thickness.
