OnePlus has announced an expanded suite of AI features under the new OnePlus AI brand, debuting with the OnePlus 13s. The innovative Plus Key replaces the Alert slider, enabling access to the new AI Mind Space, which scans screen content to assist users in saving and recalling information, like adding events to calendars and translating languages. Additional AI features include AI VoiceScribe for call translation, AI Call Assistant for automatic summaries, and AI Translation consolidating translation capabilities. Privacy is prioritized through on-device processing and secure cloud environments. More details will be revealed ahead of the June 5 launch.
OnePlus has revealed that it is joining the AI revolution. After previously introducing a few AI features, the company is now unveiling a broader range of capabilities and hardware integration under the new OnePlus AI brand.
The new AI features will launch with the upcoming OnePlus 13s. This phone includes a dedicated button on the side known as the Plus Key, replacing OnePlus’ traditional Alert slider. This button not only grants access to additional features but also plays a crucial role in activating one of the key aspects of this initiative.
OnePlus refers to this feature as the AI Mind Space. By pressing and holding the Plus Key (when set to the Mind Space function), users can activate it. Utilizing a tool called AI Plus Mind, this feature scans the screen’s content, assisting in saving, cataloging, and recalling that information later. For instance, it can locate dates or events to add to your calendar, identify places and offer more details about them, or translate any foreign languages present.
All collected information is stored within the Mind Space, where screenshots and extracted details are organized for easy review. With AI Search, users can type a query using natural language based on the information in the Mind Space; later this year, AI Plus Mind will also automatically categorize saved content.
The AI Plus Mind will debut with the 13s but will be available for the rest of the OnePlus 13 series through a future update, with plans to extend to other devices later. For devices lacking the Plus Key, the feature can be accessed by swiping up on the screen using three fingers.
In addition to Plus Mind, OnePlus is introducing a variety of other AI features. AI VoiceScribe can record, summarize, and translate calls and meetings within major messaging, video, and online meeting applications. Exclusive to India, the AI Call Assistant provides options for automatic call summaries or real-time translation during calls with the new OnePlus Dialer app.
The AI Translation app combines all translation functionalities across text, live voice, camera, and screen translation into a single application. As mentioned earlier, AI Search allows users to find information on their devices using natural language queries. AI Reframe, available in the Photos app, analyzes photo scenes and generates multiple creative framing suggestions for users. Lastly, AI Best Face 2.0 can automatically identify and correct issues like closed eyes and unflattering expressions.
OnePlus is also enhancing its integration with Google Gemini, which can now function across OxygenOS applications, including OnePlus Notes, Clock, and more. Gemini Live is also supported with camera and screen sharing capabilities.
Regarding privacy concerns, OnePlus emphasizes its commitment to on-device processing for highly sensitive information. When more extensive computation is needed, it utilizes the company’s Private Computing Cloud, which provides a secure, encrypted environment for data processing. A Trusted Execution Environment encompasses the user’s device, cloud servers, and the data transfer process.
Stay tuned for more information as we approach the launch scheduled for June 5.
