For the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand this Sunday, Australia’s Paul Reiffel and England’s Richard Illingworth have been appointed as the on-field umpires, with Sri Lanka’s Ranjan Madugalle serving as the match referee. Reiffel, 58, a former Australian fast bowler, boasts over 200 Test and ODI wickets and officiated during South Africa’s semifinal against New Zealand in Lahore. Illingworth, 61, a former England left-arm spinner, also officiated during India’s semifinal clash against Australia in Dubai.
A four-time ICC Umpire of the Year, Illingworth previously stood in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India and the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas.
He served as the umpire in the group match where India defeated New Zealand by 44 runs.
India secured their spot in the final by defeating Australia by four wickets in Dubai, while New Zealand triumphed over South Africa by 50 runs in the other semifinal.
