Last week at MWC in Barcelona, Nothing introduced the new Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, and they are now rolling out their first software update. This update will likely be available for users as soon as they unbox their devices.

This update includes a host of enhancements. The Essential Key interaction has been improved; now, a quick press will save your current screen and let you add notes, while a long press will record a voice note along with the screenshot.

Additionally, the update introduces Essential Space widgets for both the home and lock screens, a redesigned Essential Space homepage, and an Upcoming section for managing all your tasks seamlessly. Smart Insight will now display information in the system language.

Camera Presets have been added for quick access to “optimal settings for various scenes,” allowing for sharing and importing of these presets. Users can also import cube files for custom filters. Camera performance enhancements have been made, particularly in macro mode. The portrait mode has also been refined to provide “more accurate background blur.”

AI-driven face and scene classification is now available in the Nothing Gallery app, which has undergone improvements for interaction and user experience. There’s also a password verification feature for powering off the device, along with several bug fixes.
