New Row Emerges in Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan Excluded from Logo in India vs Bangladesh Match

The Champions Trophy 2025 faced controversy when Pakistan’s name was absent from the tournament logo during the India-Bangladesh match broadcast. Initially, the logo included Pakistan’s name, but a technical glitch led to its omission in the second game, sparking social media outrage. The ICC attributed the issue to a graphics-related malfunction and assured that future broadcasts of India matches would feature the corrected logo. The PCB has sought an official explanation, while former cricketer Yuvraj Singh commented on Pakistan’s advantage in Dubai due to their familiarity with the conditions, emphasizing the teams’ historical rivalry.

The Champions Trophy 2025 faced a new controversy when Pakistan’s name was absent from the tournament logo during the live telecast of the India-Bangladesh Group A match in Dubai. In the tournament opener, the logo displayed during the live coverage included the name of the host (Pakistan). However, during the second match, Pakistan’s name was omitted, creating a significant stir on social media. The International Cricket Council (ICC) promptly addressed the situation, and as per Geo TV, an ICC spokesperson clarified that it was due to a technical glitch. The spokesperson also assured that the broadcast of all India matches would include the tournament logo featuring Pakistan’s name.

“The absence was the result of a graphics-related technical issue, which will be corrected from tomorrow. It was not feasible to modify the logo during the match,” the spokesperson explained.

Can someone clarify my observation? The displayed logo during yesterday’s #PAKvNZ match included ‘Pakistan’ in the top left corner. In contrast, today’s #INDvBAN match does not show ‘Pakistan’ on the logo. Even though today’s match is in Dubai, why is Pakistan… pic.twitter.com/E0unp9wcxQ

According to ESPNCricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested an official explanation from the ICC regarding this incident despite having received informal communication from the global governing body.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh suggested that Pakistan holds an advantage in their high-profile ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against India, as they are well-acquainted with the conditions of Dubai due to their extensive experience playing there.

Speaking ahead of the match, Yuvraj stated on JioHotstar’s ‘Greatest Rivalry Returns’ program, “I believe that Pakistan has an advantage because they have a base in Dubai. They have played a lot of cricket there and are familiar with the conditions.”

Yuvraj noted that on slower pitches, both Indian and Pakistani players excel in playing spin, pointing out that the rivalry focuses equally on moment-to-moment gameplay and the standout performers from both teams.

In contrast to the 50-over and T20 World Cups, Pakistan holds a 3-2 advantage over India in the Champions Trophy, having recorded a 180-run victory in the 2017 final, during which star India batter Virat Kohli’s team proved formidable. They will enter Dubai with significant momentum.
