New Certification Reveals Charging Speed for Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro are set to launch on March 4, featuring leaked renders and confirmed specs. They will both support 50W fast wired charging, an upgrade from last year’s Phone (2a)’s 45W, but not significantly different from the (2a) Plus. The devices will utilize the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and run Android 15 with Nothing’s skin. The main camera setup will include a 50 MP main and an 8 MP ultrawide lens, while the (3a) Pro will feature a superior 3x optical zoom periscope telephoto camera.

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro are set to be officially unveiled on March 4, and earlier today, we were treated to a comprehensive collection of leaked images. Although we’ve learned plenty about their specifications up to this point, the charging speed for the anticipated 5,000 mAh battery has remained unclear until now.

Thanks to the devices obtaining TÜV SÜD PSB certification in Germany, we can now confirm that both models support 50W fast wired charging.

Last year’s Phone (2a) maxed out at 45W, with the later-released Phone (2a) Plus featuring 50W charging support. Therefore, if you’re upgrading from the (2a) instead of the (2a) Plus, this represents just a minor enhancement. Thus, the company appears to be moving away from advertising this small difference as a selling point for its more premium offering.

We anticipate that the periscope telephoto camera in the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro will provide sufficient distinction between the two models, eliminating any need for inconsequential features like a mere 5W increase in peak charging to make the specifications list appears more impressive.

The Nothing Phone (3a) series is transitioning to Snapdragon processors, with speculation indicating that both devices will be powered by the 7s Gen 3. They will, of course, ship with Android 15 right from the start, featuring Nothing’s custom interface. If previous rumors hold true, they will share a primary 50 MP camera and an 8 MP ultrawide lens. However, while the standard model will feature a basic 2x optical zoom telephoto camera, the Pro variant will come equipped with a 3x optical zoom periscope.
