Meizu, originally a smartphone company, has shifted focus to electric vehicles and now has its smartphone division acquired by Dreamsmart Group. Mr. Gu Binbin, the group’s executive director, noted that Meizu has entered 30 markets in its first year back internationally. Dreamsmart’s investment aims to enhance smartphone development and distribution. The company plans to expand in Southeast Asia, followed by Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America. Initially, Meizu will offer mid-range smartphones online, partnering with physical retailers later. It traditionally offers devices priced between $100 and $700, with a Meizu 22 launch anticipated at MWC 2025.
Meizu originally specialized in smartphones but has since redirected its focus towards electric vehicles. Recently, its smartphone division was sold and is now under the ownership of Dreamsmart Group.
In a conversation with Mr. Gu Binbin, the executive director of the group and head of overseas operations, we learned that Meizu has successfully launched in 30 markets during its first year back on the global stage.

Dreamsmart has made significant investments in the development, production, and distribution of smartphones. Plans are in place for Meizu to expand into Southeast Asia, followed by ventures into Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America.
The executive expressed confidence in their partnership with automaker Geely, as there are already joint marketing efforts for vehicles and smartphones in certain markets. Initially, smartphones will be available online in new regions, and the company is actively working on agreements with physical retail partners.

Historically, Meizu has offered a range of phones across various price points. Currently, its products in China span from $100 to $700, but this price range is not fully represented in international markets.
Mr. Gu revealed that the initial strategy will focus on launching midrange devices in foreign markets, with plans to expand the product line in the future.
