Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has established a new All India Congress Committee (AICC) department tasked with overseeing the party’s assets and properties throughout the country.
Former party MP Vijay Inder Singla has been appointed as the AICC in-charge of this department with immediate effect, according to a party statement.
Mr. Singla, a former Punjab Minister, is also serving as the joint treasurer of the AICC.
The Congress is preparing for assembly elections in Bihar this year, as well as in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry next year.
The party has been engaging in meetings with its leaders from these states to refine its election strategy.
