New Delhi:

The Lok Sabha is set to engage in a one-hour discussion regarding the statutory resolution that seeks approval for the proclamation of President’s Rule in Manipur.

This decision was made during a meeting of the Lok Sabha’s Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which was chaired by Speaker Om Birla on Monday.

Starting Tuesday, the Lok Sabha will also discuss the Manipur budget, which was presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The discourse on the Manipur budget will be combined with discussions on the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2024-25, along with the Demands for Excess Grants for 2021-22; a total of six hours has been allocated for these discussions.

Additionally, the BAC has opted to cancel the sitting scheduled for March 13 due to Holi. It has suggested that the Lok Sabha convene on Saturday, March 29, to make up for the cancelation.

There will be a total of 10 hours reserved for discussions on the Railways, and one day each will be dedicated to debates on the Demands for Grants for the ministries of Jal Shakti, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

The BAC has also scheduled eight hours for discussion on the finance bill.

Furthermore, the committee has empowered the speaker to choose two additional ministries for discussions and voting on Demands for Grants from among housing and urban affairs, social justice and empowerment, external affairs, and defense.
